Vocational Qualifications
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-based qualifications that demonstrate an individual’s competence in specific job-related skills. These qualifications are widely recognized internationally and provide employers with assurance of a candidate’s proficiency in their role at a particular level.
Depending on the scope and level of the qualification, individuals may receive an Award, Certificate, or Diploma upon completion however it’s important to note that purely ‘knowledge based’ qualifications are not considered NVQs as they lack the assessment of practical skills in a work environment.
NVQs are tailored to specific industries and involve two key components:
- Evaluation of theoretical knowledge through questions and answers related to the field
- Assessment of practical abilities in the workplace through on-site observation and evaluation
