This qualification is designed for experienced carers who are already working in an adult care setting, including residential care homes, domiciliary care, day centres and healthcare environments.
It is suitable for anyone looking to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care and develop the skills needed to progress into supervisory or more specialised roles.
You must be an experienced carer currently working in the Adult Care sector, as the qualification includes on-site observation within a care setting.
You must also be aged 16 or over to enrol on this qualification.
The time it takes to complete the qualification will depend on your existing knowledge and experience, as well as how much time you can commit to your work.
Most learners can expect to complete it within a few months to a year or more, depending on their individual circumstances and progress.
If you’re keen to complete the qualification more quickly, your assessor will work with you to help you progress at a pace that suits you.
You will achieve a fully accredited Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, designed to support your professional development and career progression within the adult care sector.
The qualification can help you progress into roles such as Lead Adult Care Worker, Care Supervisor, Community Support Worker or Personal Assistant, depending on your experience and responsibilities.
If you want to continue your development after Level 3, a natural next step is the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF).
You do not need a specific English qualification to start this course, but you should have a good standard of spoken and written English.
You will need to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and managers as part of your role, and the qualification also includes written questions and answers.
You will be inducted onto the qualification and introduced to the e-portfolio by your appointed assessor. They will explain how the qualification works and guide you through the process step by step.
Your assessor will be your main point of contact throughout and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Underpinning knowledge questions are available through the e-portfolio, giving you 24/7 access to work around busy schedules and shift patterns.
On-site assessments will be arranged with your assessor at a convenient time when naturally occurring evidence relevant to the unit can be observed. This helps each observation visit provide useful evidence towards the progress and completion of your qualification.
Your knowledge-based work will be completed through the e-portfolio, where you can access your questions, assessment plans and track your progress as each unit is completed.
Practical evidence will be gathered through on-site observations while you carry out your normal role. Your assessor may also use witness testimonies, work products, reflective accounts and professional discussions to help demonstrate that you have met the required criteria.
The qualification is complete once all required knowledge and practical assessment criteria have been successfully met. There is no final examination.

I would like to share my experience of working towards and passing Level 2 in Health and Social Care. Under the guidance of tutor Joanne at Pentagon Skills, I drew on my work skills and all that I have learnt about caring for Service Users. When I was feeling stuck, stressed or struggling, I knew I could turn to Joanne, either over the telephone or Whatsapp and she responded with compassion which soothed any anxiety and helpful comments to improve my work. The reflections I provided in my units were cathartic and I realised how much I had learned from people. The wide range of topics in studying for Level 2 were informative and a valuable learning experience. Most of all, I felt like I could be myself, which helped my work flow and be of a good standard to pass.Posted on Google![]()
